Story:
Everything was freshly baked at Clara’s, with only the finest flour, shortening, and pure milk as her ingredients. And the results were some of the most delicious buns, cakes, and pies you have ever tasted. Clara Goodfriend had come to Liberty Falls in 1869 with her six-year-old son, Scott. Clara’s husband George had fought and died in the War Between the States, so Clara decided to make a new life for herself in the expanding frontiers of our country.
At first, she made and sold cookies and fresh bread from her home in town, but then, when more and more people kept asking her to prepare other “goodies,” she decided to open Clara’s Bakery in a local shop that had once been home to a grain and feed establishment. She would always get up before dawn, start the massive ovens with wood chips and cottonwood logs, and by the time the townsfolk came by at 9, she already had the first batch of her famous buns, hot and fresh, ready for immediate sale right there in her cozy store.
